TEMPOE ACQUIRES FLEXPAY PLUS ASSETS FROM KAHUNA PAYMENT SOLUTIONS

This asset acquisition allows TEMPOE to offer retail installment sales in 16 states

(MANCHESTER, NH – Oct. 7, 2015) – TEMPOE, a leading provider of no credit required shopping, has completed an asset purchase from Bloomington, Illinois-based Kahuna Payment Solutions (KPS). The move allows TEMPOE to broaden its offerings to include no credit needed retail installment sales through the FlexPay PLUS® label to consumers in 16 states. FlexPay PLUS is primarily offered in the furniture, jewelry, sporting equipment, pet and automotive industries.

“This will expand our offering and our geographic footprint,” said Orlando Zayas, TEMPOE president. “We are always looking at ways we can provide more services to our retailers and their customers to help them grow their business.”

TEMPOE’s market strategy includes expanding its product collection to provide retailers with multiple leasing and finance solutions for their customers. The FlexPay PLUS acquisition enables TEMPOE to offer an additional no credit required program in Alaska, Arizona, California, Delaware, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

“Now we can offer customers a choice of alternative finance solutions, which is good for retailers and customers alike,” said Zayas. “This will help us grow business and build customer loyalty.”

The Kahuna name will be discontinued, however the leadership team of KPS will join TEMPOE to continue leading the growth of the FlexPay PLUS book of business.

The acquisition of FlexPay PLUS is TEMPOE’s second recent acquisition. Last week, the company also announced it had acquired SmartPay Leasing, Inc., which provides leasing options for smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices.

“We’re excited to continue our growth strategy and expand the number of retailers — and customers — we reach,” Zayas said. “We will continue to look for opportunities to expand our offerings.”

TEMPOE ACQUIRES SMARTPAY LEASING, INC.

(MANCHESTER, NH – Sept. 30, 2015)

TEMPOE, a leading provider of no credit required shopping, has acquired San Francisco-based SmartPayTM Leasing, Inc. SmartPay, which provides lease options for smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices, was acquired from its parent company, Better Finance, Inc.

“Consumers are looking for ways to spread out payments for these products, which have become essential to everyday life,” said Orlando Zayas, TEMPOE president. “This is a logical move for us and expands TEMPOE’s offerings into this rapidly growing market.”

SmartPay Leasing currently allows wireless carriers and retailers to spread customer payments over time for smartphones and other consumer electronics items. The service is available across the U.S.

The SmartPay name will be integrated into TEMPOE’s portfolio of offerings, and the combined company will provide more benefits for retailers and their customers. The SmartPay team, led by General Manager Ken Pedotto, will remain in place in San Francisco.

“This is about combining two technology-based companies to provide even better lease solutions. Now retailers can more easily help all of their customers to get the devices they want, which will help increase sales in each store,” said Pedotto. “In addition, our employees will now be part of a larger company where they can leverage additional resources.”

For retailers, offering SmartPay can grow sales by expanding what customers can afford. SmartPay uses existing sales infrastructure and provides retailers with marketing tools to make it easy for customers to apply, be approved and make a purchase in store.

TEMPOE will continue to grow through strategic acquisitions, new market penetration and product expansion.

“We are interested in taking our model to additional channels while continuing to expand our reach in the markets we’re already in,” said Zayas. “This acquisition is just the start of a solid business strategy.”

TEMPOE Introduces New Name and New Product

for No Credit Required Shopping
(MANCHESTER, N.H.—June 22, 2015) Today marks the launch of TEMPOE, a leader in no credit required shopping with several payment options. Formerly known as WhyNotLeaseIt, the company changed its name and rebranded to TEMPOE to better reflect its total business model and expanded offerings for retailers and consumers. The new brand is representative of its plans to expand and deliver more than a single product to the industry – the former name was limiting.

“The name TEMPOE speaks to the rhythm of both a retailer’s drive for repeat business and a consumer’s shopping cadence,” said TEMPOE President Orlando Zayas. “We’ve made significant enhancements to our no credit required program, and we will continue to announce innovative new products.”

Changes TEMPOE have made to their program include delivering mobile friendly and responsive applications, offering customizable marketing materials, and automating additional retailer support tools. Additionally, the groundbreaking technology TEMPOE delivers in its inTEMPOE product helps to drive repeat business for its retailers. inTEMPOE is a comprehensive, single source technology for speedy integration with retailer support systems, including ecommerce, point-of-sale (POS) systems, mobile or kiosks. The ready-to-use platform allows full integration of TEMPOE technology and retailer systems without invasive infrastructure changes, abundant and costly human resources or delayed speed-to-market.

“Because inTEMPOE works with the systems that the stores already embrace, they can choose the right integration solution for their businesses. When our customers grow their businesses, inTEMPOE will ensure that we are in lock-step,” said Zayas. “And, when no credit required shopping experiences are positive for consumers, they are tied to the ease of executing transactions for retail associates,” Zayas concluded.

WhyNotLeaseIt introduces GoSelect options

TMP-15-010-STA-PRAgencyLH WhyNotLeaseIt introduces GoSelect options TMP 15 010 STA PRAgencyLH

(Manchester, NH (Furniture Today) – August 12, 2014) WhyNotLeaseIt, a provider of lease financing options for consumers of furniture, appliances and other big-ticket items, is introducing new options to allow consumers to purchase their goods in 30, 60 or 90 days after the start of their leases.

The new program is called the GoSelect Early Purchase Option.

According to the company, the standard lease allows consumers to take their items home immediately while making payments monthly or biweekly, but doesn’t allow the consumer to buy out the agreement for five months. GoSelect allows a buyout in 30, 60 or 90 days, which reduces the overall cost of leasing the items for those who choose the early purchase option.

“GoSelect gives consumers more flexibility and ultimately helps them own the merchandise if they choose. That’s why it’s a meaningful offering for our dealers,” said Orlando Zayas, CEO of WhyNotLeaseIt. “It’s simple: an early purchase option gives consumers more control over their leasing experience and gives our retail partners a new tool in their toolbox.”

GoSelect isn’t available in Minnesota, Wisconsin or New Jersey. Customers in those states can contact WhyNotLeaseIt to negotiate purchase terms, the company said.

More information about the new product is available on the company’s website at www.whynotleaseit.com.

Kmart Offers New, Costly Path to Purchase

TMP-15-010-STA-PRAgencyLH Kmart Offers New, Costly Path to Purchase TMP 15 010 STA PRAgencyLH

(RetailWire – November 13, 2013) Like its sister company, Sears, Kmart has achieved a degree of success with its layaway plan by catering to consumers on the low-end of the economic ladder. Now, Kmart is following the lead of its older sibling by catering to cash- and credit-strapped consumers with the launch of a lease-to-own program.

Last November, Sears announced it was rolling out a lease-to-own program in partnership with WhyNotLeaseIt, a company that also works with Ashley Furniture, Discount Mattress and Jennifer Convertibles, to all its stores.

“Kmart’s lease-to-own program will help ease some of the financial barriers our members and customers will face this holiday season,” said Jai Holtz, vice president, financial services, Sears Holdings, in a statement. “For members and customers who have an immediate need, lease-to-own gives a full house assortment of products and a way to pay.”

As Sears found out, offering such a program brings on critics who argue that the markups on products are onerous. Bloomberg News reported that a $300 television would wind up costing a consumer $415 in the end.

“I’m not here to convince you lease-to-own is not more expensive than a credit program,” Mr. Holtz told Bloomberg. “Our total cost of ownership, for a customer who otherwise cannot get credit, is much lower than the others in the industry offering these types of products. This is really coming from consumer demand.”

Kmart’s lease-to-own program will be available on items costing $150 or more beginning on Nov. 22 in stores across the U.S.
